Project Based Learning Project #2














A Gardener's Dilemma By: Jamie Baxter, Thomas Leytham, and Colin Richard



Students will learn the following in this project:

1. Determine perimeter of geometric shapes.

2. Determine area of geometric shapes.

3. Use grids to record designs.

4. Use of ordering pairs to identify location.

5. Group Collaborative Skills

  1. This project seems interesting and engaging for the students.

    However, the worksheet titled, "Where's My Veggies" is really saying, "Where Is My Veggies". That's modeling incorrect grammar. It should say, "Where ARE My Veggies." You will be on constant display in your classroom so modeling proper grammar is a MUST!
    Also, timing will come with experience but there is a huge gap between 15 and 30 hours. If you plan for 30 hours and the whole project only takes 15 minutes, you will be scramming for busy work to complete the 30 hours.

    Great idea for the last day- students evaluating other group's works.

    1. Could not see the plural form of "Veggies" in the worksheet. I assure you my grammar is impeccable and will do very well when I am on "display." As for the time, the calendar made it 15, an hour a day for 3 weeks, the 30 was an up to amount if desired in another year perhaps. Thank you for the candid commenting however.
